Cedar bites my finger,
snake-scaled leaflet.
Green scenting and tree blood, sticky.
An offering for the trickster.

“I want you to take my rose and tear the petals into pieces over your bed,” Loki instructs.
The rose I had offered him is given back. I do as he says.
“Now sleep in it.”
I find dark beauty in every side of you, luscious monster, and powerful quake. Fiery sunset, the forest that burns too close to home. I love your danger most. -Rogue

“Don’t change the subject. I asked you to allow me to woo you.”
“I have no idea what that means, Loki.”
“Afraid of surprises?” he teases.
“Yeah. Not only are you a god, you are a giant. That’s the epitome of intimidating.”
“I didn’t ask to be intimidating to you. I asked to woo you,” he says.
“If you do that, then I don’t know how I’ll react.”
“You fear you’ll never be free of me. Or that you’ll lose yourself in hopeless love for me, the kind that you can’t put down.”
“Yes. I’m sorry. I just don’t want to be tied down.”
“Then I’m the least of your worries, darling. I won’t tie you down. I’ll set you free. Continuously.”
Danger tinges his words.
“We never seem to finish what we’ve started,” Loki says while pinning me playfully.
A long, wet lick up the side of my face.
I tremble with delight and terror.
“Oh, dear God, you know.” I realize.
“I do know.”
“I’m so screwed.”
“Yes,” Loki agrees.
The color floods back into my life.
Tones of gray and light dissipate, and I hunger, raw
with wild thirst for Him.
“Be in my love,” Loki says.
I lean back into his arms.
“Tell me the fantasies concerning you.”
“I can’t.”
“It’s alright. I won’t feel ashamed or judge you,” Loki says.
I feel his warmth as I show him the fantasies that creep into my head most.
“Nothing that unusual.”
“Really?” I ask, looking up at him.
He cocks an eyebrow. “Well, you know my mythos. I’m never surprised. Maybe that’s a good thing?”
I turn three shades of red and bury myself in his chest.
“I love your evil side,” I confess, my eyes brimming with tears.
“Tell me,” Loki says.
“The way you use your darkness is beautiful. It’s not all sass and humor, but rich and visceral. It’s not just that you are cunning. It’s that you reinvented the meaning of cunning. Your lies lead to truth, sure, but this involves opening my wounds, cleansing and cauterizing them. It’s not fun, but it’s brilliant.”
“Thank you for appreciating me,” he says, a slight snarl curling his lip.
“You’re the most beautiful monster.”
“You shouldn’t do that,” he says sardonically.
“What?”
“Relate.”
“I can’t help it. It’s not that I enjoy everything, but I am willing to see the beauty of it, the genius.”
His fingers unwrap from around my arms, and I melt into him, aware that my life is in his hands as much as my own.
